Dairo Caraballo
I have been a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) since 2022. My academic credentials include a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar, a Master of Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a post-graduate degree in Project Management from Cornell University.
With over 14 years of multidisciplinary experience in Canada and internationally, I have successfully delivered complex, multimillion-dollar projects across the oil and gas, petrochemical, water, and power generation industries. My expertise spans leading project teams and overseeing engineering activities throughout all project phases, from Front-End Loading to Construction and Start-up.
Currently, as a Senior Project Engineer at Dow Chemical, I demonstrate leadership and technical acumen. I am also committed to mentoring foreign-educated engineers, guiding them through the Canadian licensing process. Having navigated this path myself, I actively help others prepare for the NPPE, ensure their degrees are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), and document their experience to meet competency requirements. My goal is to make this process more accessible for aspiring engineers.
As a mentor, I can offer advice on the following:
✅ P.Eng. licensing pathways in Canada
✅ Foreign work experience documentation
✅ How to minimize or eliminate the need for technical examinations
